Going wild about our Garlic Yarg cheese

Surprisingly different to the nettle covered Yarg, it has a closer texture and is fresh and bright with the distinctive taste of the wild garlic leaf. Like the Nettle Yarg, Wild Garlic Yarg is made by hand in open vats on our farm in West Cornwall. The cheese has a distinctive flavour and appearance – genuinely quite different to anything else on the counter.

The new crop of wild garlic has just appeared in our woods and we are using the leaves already. They are a delightful bright green and have lent a delicious faint aroma of fresh new garlic leaves to the Dairy.

Quick facts...

  • Two sizes 1.7kg wheel or 1kg truckle.
  • Vegetarian. 10g fat per 30g portion.
  • Best eaten between 6 – 12 weeks of age.
  • Great for recipes, melting etc. Ideal for fish, potatoes, quiche.
  • Ideal with a light cider, ale or medium dry white wine, eg. Vouvray or a Chenin blanc.
